GRANULAR ‘A’
(A-GRAVEL)
A free-draining manufactured product consisting of sand and crushed gravel. Typically used for road surface topping for driveways and roadways and is typically placed prior to asphalt placement. All Granular ‘A’ materials at Morden Sand and Gravel facilities are carefully manufactured and regularly tested to meet the Ontario Ministry of Transportation’s Specifications.

GRANULAR ‘B’
(B-GRAVEL)
A free-draining product that can be manufactured (screened Granular ‘B’) or out of pit bank (pit run Granular ‘B’). This material is one of the most widely used soils in the construction industry for things such as general filling of sites, underneath Granular ‘A’ material and many other applications. All Granular ‘B’ materials at Morden Sand and Gravel facilities are carefully manufactured and regularly tested to meet the Ontario Ministry of Transportation’s Specifications.

SELECT SUBGRADE MATERIAL (SSM)
This product can be manufactured or out of bank such as Granular ‘B’ but due to its higher fines (silt and clay) content is used a general-purpose fill. This material is typically used to fill large areas or excavations if free draining properties are not as critical. All SSM materials at Morden Sand and Gravel facilities are carefully manufactured and regularly tested to meet the Ontario Ministry of Transportation’s Specifications.
DRAINAGE STONE
A manufactured by-product of our sand screening operations. This material is well suited for any type of project that required the free-flowing movement of water. Stone sizes range between 1” to 2”.
WINTER SAND
This is a manufactured sand product. It consists of a coarse screened sand that is used as a safety measure on our roadways during the winter months. In some cases, salt is added to the mixture to add the ice melting properties to provide additional safety. All winter sand manufactured at Morden Sand and Gravel facilities are carefully manufactured and regularly tested to meet Ontario Ministry of Transportation’s Specifications.
RIVER STONE
A manufactured by-product of our sand screening operations. This material is usually used as a decorative product but has a variety of other applications. Stone sizes range between 2” to 6”.
GRANITE
BOULDERS
Large natural rocks ranging in size from 6 inches to 5 feet in diameter typically used in landscaping or shore wall construction.
CLEAN FILL
A general product consisting of sand, gravel and some finer materials such as clay and silt. This product can be sold as screened or unscreened (pit run). Similar to SSM in use only does not meet the Ministry of Transportation’s guidelines for silt and clay content (greater than 25%).
GRANITE
BLAST ROCK
Large fracture rocks ranging in size from 6 inches to 5 feet in width this product is retrieved from blasting operations and typically has the same functionality as the boulders except for it is angular.
RECYCLED ASPHALT
A recycled product manufactured from reclaimed asphalt. This product is suitable to be used as a final topping for driveways, walkways or parking areas.
CLAY
A dense moisture retaining soil ideally suited for applications where water retention is the goal. Typically used to line ponds and other water retentions structures.
2” RECYCLED CONCRETE CRUSHER RUN
A recycled product manufactured with concrete and sand. This robust material is suitable for use in wet low lying areas to create a strong base.
